Steve Olson – Connection Ministries
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in an eastern suburb of St. Paul, Minnesota. My parents were 1 of 5 couples that started a church (Lutheran Church of Peace) in the basement of one of the couple’s homes. It was a time when everyone went to church because “that’s what is required.” The concept of what “faith” meant escaped me…it only happened to heroes of the Bible.
After hight school, I attended college and worked nights at UPS. My studies were delayed by a 2-year military (Army) adventure. I returned to Minnesota to a full-time position at UPS, from which I recently retired after 40 years of service.
Tell us about your family.
I have been joyfully married to my wife, Diane, since 1978. We have two sons, Bill (Lauren) and Mike (Joelle), and two grandchildren, Mya Marie (4) and Joseph Jeremiah (called JJ, who is 2).
Why are you passionate about Palmwood Church?
I am passionate about the work the Lord is doing through Palmwood Church. Many people have become disconnected from the institutional church for various reasons. My passion is to reconnect people with the Lord Jesus Christ through His body…the collection of believers known as the Church. This support system is vital in assisting each other with life’s trials. Coaching, mentoring and encouraging people in the study of God’s Word, the Bible, are all tools to be used to grow us up in the spiritual maturity and knowledge of God.
What’s your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is “Blind Side.”
What’s your favorite sports team?
My favorite sports team is the Minnesota Twins… I’m all about underdogs.
If you could ask God one question, what would it be?
If I could ask God one question, it would be ,” Why are some prayers for healing answered yes, and some with no.”
