God’s Love is Eternal & Unchanging

Misconceptions: If I could just _____, God would love me more.

1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations. (Psalm 100)

1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
His love endures forever.
2 Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.
3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever… (Psalm 136)

3 The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with loving-kindness. (Jeremiah 31:3)

Jeremiah tells us that God loves his people with an everlasting love. Think about that: from before there was a beginning to after the end will come, God loves his people. God is everlasting, so his love is everlasting. God’s love endures forever!

God is also unchanging. One commentator notes that there are over 40 references in the Bible regarding God’s unchanging nature (e.g., James 1:17; Hebrews 13:8; Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 6:13-20…). God is unchanging, so his love is unchanging. It doesn’t fluctuate. It doesn’t increase or decrease — it is constant. God has always and will always love us fully. Period.

For today, consider God’s love for you personally…his everlasting and unchanging love for you. If this is a new idea for you, stop and pray to ask God to help you understand it more fully (Ephesians 3:14-19).
